Stephen Scanlon joined Turner Construction Company in 1988 where he began his career with various engineering positions that ultimately led him to the international office in 1993. While working as a Project Construction Engineer at Turner International he managed the $105 Million design build of the Twin 40 story World Trade Center in Colombo, Sri Lanka. In 1996, he became Senior Project Engineer on the $60 million design assist of the Aquarium of the Pacific located in Los Angeles, California. From 1999-2000 Stephen became Project Manager on the $200 Million Doha Ritz Carlton in Doha, Qatar and the $40 Million Hilton Hotel in Cairo, Egypt.
Stephen joined Swinerton Builders in 2000 as the Senior Project Manager on the $160 Million OMNI Hotel and Condominium in San Diego, California. His responsibilities included management of all planning, estimating, purchasing, engineering, superintending and administrative activities. In 2003 he worked as an international consultant in China, Netherlands as the Construction Engineer on a $1 Billion Corporate Headquarters complex for the Chinese National Television Company. He joined Nexus in 2004 as Vice President of Design and Construction, where he led the construction company, including construction of the 248 million, 25-story Skyline condo towers in Santa Ana, CA.
In 2009, Stephen joined Stearns International as President, where he led real estate acquisitions and organized and built platforms in the Middle East, North Africa, Eastern Europe, Central Asia and Gulf Cooperation Councils countries, totaling over $200 million in their development pipeline of hospitality, commercial and retail properties. He rejoined Nexus in 2017 as Senior Vice President of Development and Construction to lead the company’s development and construction efforts.
